  3. This is a public beta version. Please report any bug/problems etc.

  5. • WARNING WARNING WARNING
  6. This application might crash your Macintosh at any time. Therefore use
  7. it with caution, especially when used in background save your foreground
  8. work as often as possible.
  9.  
  10. • Important Notes:
  11. - THE PLAYER REQUIRES A POWERMACINTOSH!!!
  12. - The player is incompatible with Virtual Memory,
  13.   and may play poorly with Ram Doubler
  14. - It probably does not work on the 5200/6200
  15. - On low-end PPCs, Sound Manager 3.1 is highly recommended
  16. - Shuffle does not work like normal CD players, it just picks a random
  17.   songs, so a song might be picked twice in a row
  18. - The player requires Sound Double Buffer Hardware, if it is not
  19.   available on your Macintosh the player won't work
  20. - Sound output should be set to 44Khz/16bit, else it might not play well
  21. - Certain applications (like ResEdit) seem to disturb the filemanager.
  22.   If they are kept open in the background, playback may suddenly stop.
  23.   (no crash though...)
  24. - Modern Memory Manager needs to be turned on
  25. - Time values only work correctly with 44kHz files
  26. - On slow machines, don't set the speed to maximum
  27. - MacOS 8 is recommended, the Appearance extension is required on 7.5x
  28.  
  29. • Formats supported
  30. All Layer I, II and III formats are supported. If you have 
  31. problems with a specific file, please contact me!
  32.  
  33. • Drag&Drop
  34. You can drag files either into the list or directly onto the play-button
  35. for immediate playback. Only files of type 'MPEG' are accepted.
  36. If you drag files directly onto the application icon, all files are
  37. accepted that have an ending .mpg or .mp2.
  38.  
  39. • Info Dialog
  40. The info dialog displays all information that are available in a MPEG
  41. Audio stream. You can also enter title/artist information which will
  42. be stored in a STR# resource within the MPEG file. If the file is
  43. locked or on a write-protected volume, the information won't be
  44. saved.
  45.  
  46. • Miniview
  47. You can change between the big view of the Player or the mini view
  48. by clicking into the zoombox of the window.
  49.  
  50. • Oscilloscope/Spectrum
  51. You can change between the oscilloscope view or the spectrum/oscilloscope
  52. view by clicking into the oscilloscope.
  53.  
  54. • Rate / Volume sliders
  55. You can change the rate and the volume by moving the sliders up and down.
  56. The rate is reset everytime a new song starts playing. You can also reset the rate
  57. or volume by clicking on the labels at the bottom of the silders.

  59. • Preferences Dialog
  60. - Autoplay on open : Automatically starts playing when you click
  61.   on a MPEG file (usefull when used for WWW Browers)
  62. - Play first item of list : Starts playing the first instead of the
  63.   last song, when clicked on a list
  64. - Remeber music list : Remebers all items when you quit the Player
  65. - Append Lists : Lists are appended instead of overwritten
  66. - Remember window position
  67. - Zoom window : Toggles zooming effect for all windows
  68. - Change file types/creators
  69. - Report unknown file types
